Department Responsibilities

This is likely the most familiar office in the county building. The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), a department under the auspices of the County Clerk’s Office, offers a wide range of services including learner’s permits, driver's licenses, non-driver identification cards, and registrations for motor vehicles, motorcycles, snowmobiles, boats, and RVs. The Schuyler County DMV also provides escort testing and handles enforcement problems.

Service Hours

• License Reciprocity, Restricted Licenses, Conditional Licenses, Enhanced and REAL ID Licenses: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.
• Class D and M Permit Tests: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.
• Commercial Permit Tests: 8:30 am - 2:30 pm.

Please note: Permit testing resources are limited and administered on a first-come, first-served basis. For questions, please call (607) 535-8131. 

Registration Renewal Options

We encourage you to renew your registration through our office. You may:

• Use the secure drop box located to right of the building entrance.

When you renew locally instead of mailing to Albany, 12.7% of the renewal fee stays right here in Schuyler County.
