Child Support Enforcement

If you have a child with an absent parent, you will be required to have an interview with the Child Support Enforcement Unit to seek support and/or establish paternity. You do have the right to claim "good cause" for not cooperating if you have experienced abuse, felt physically or mentally threatened, or have concerns for your safety or you child's. You will be asked to substantiate your claim.

Child Support Enforcement is responsible for financial support and medical insurance coverage for children. CSE must locate absent parents, establish paternity, and establish support obligations by agreement or by petitioning Family Court to order child support from absent parent(s).

CSE also establishes a support and collection unit that is responsible for the collection and disbursement of child support payments and enforces delinquent support orders.
